Forest Health
Forestry services available to San Juan County residents and partners
Technical assistance for private forest landowners and partner land management agencies has never been more important. The development of a Forest Stewardship Plan, either through SJICD or another provider, can qualify landowners for our cost share programs.
We are committed to collaborating with landowners to assess wildfire risk for their properties and providing technical assistance, resources, and connections to funding to help create a fire-resilient San Juan County.
We bring financial and technical assistance to help landowners implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) for long term forest health, carbon sequestration, and wildfire mitigation. Over thirty private landowners received technical assistance for forest health projects from 2022-23.
Coordinating forest health practices county-wide by working with public and private agencies to understand and implement priority projects.
San Juan County's forests are at risk of wildfire, disease, drought, and excessive fuel-loading. Contact us today to develop a forest plan that meets the demands of a changing environment.
